DESCRIPTION: Opened in April 2012, this two-hour experience takes visitors on a journey from the fresh waters of the Missouri River, into the mighty Mississippi River then out into the warm blue coral strewn waters of the Caribbean Sea, ending in the deep dark abyss of the Atlantic Ocean. Come nose to nose with sharks and prepare for astonishingly close views of everything from humble starfish and seahorses to graceful rays.

HOURS: 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Sun.-Thurs. 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Fri.-Sat. Last admission is two hours before scheduled closing time.

WHERE TO GET LUNCH: Crown Center is just steps away, housing a wide range of restaurant options from the moderately-priced Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant—where meals are delivered by miniature train—to the city's only Forbes Four-Star dining experience, The American Restaurant.

HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES: Have you ever wondered what it’s like to hold a horseshoe crab or feel the spiny surface of a starfish? In the Interactive Touchpool, guests of all ages are invited to get up close and personal with shallow water sea creatures.

WHAT’S NEARBY: Known as “The Biggest Box of LEGO bricks in the World,” the LEGOLAND Discovery Center is a 30,000 square-foot LEGO-themed attraction. Kids and adults of all ages will surely have a blast as they journey through interactive LEGO exhibits, activities and hands-on play areas.

DID YOU KNOW: The Sea Life Aquarium houses more than 260,000 gallons of water? That’s the equivalent of 2 million water bottles!

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take the Kansas City Streetcar to the Union Station stop (Pershing & Main). 


From the north: Take I-35 South to MO-152 West. Follow MO-152 West to US-169 South. US-169 South becomes Broadway. Follow Broadway to Pershing Road. Turn east (left) on Pershing Road and continue to Crown Center at Grand Boulevard.

From the south: On I-35 exit at W Pennway Street. (exit 1C). Turn east (right) on W Pennway. Turn north (left) on Southwest Boulevard. Turn south (right) on Broadway. Turn east (left) at Pershing Road and continue to Crown Center at Grand Boulevard.

From the east: Take I-70 West to Locust Street/Truman Road (exit 2Q). Turn left (south) on Grand Boulevard and follow to Crown Center at Pershing Road.

From the west: Take I-70 East to I-670. Exit I-670 on to I-35 South (exit 2T). Exit I-35 South at 20th Street (exit 1D). Turn left (east) on 20th Street. Turn right (south) on Grand Boulevard and continue to Crown Center at Pershing Road.

PARKING: Parking is free for the first three hours with validation in the Crown Center garage, 2450 Grand Boulevard. Weekend parking is free.
