Human Resources Manager joins Visit KC team

Melissa Walker to handle human resource efforts, talent acquisition

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Visit KC, the region’s leading hospitality and tourism organization, is pleased to announce the recent addition of Melissa Walker as human resources manager. Walker brings more than 20 years of progressive human resources experience to the team. Her first day was May 1.

As human resources manager, Walker will be responsible for all personnel and staffing efforts, including planning, support, policy development, employee relations, training, development and more. Walker will also champion organizational culture and talent acquisition, two areas that are essential for Visit KC’s ongoing growth and development.

Prior to joining the team, Walker served in a variety of different human resources roles with companies throughout the metro, including Staples, American Identity and, most recently, Advantage Metals Recycling, where she spent four years as human resources director. A graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., Walker also holds several professional accreditations—recognized as a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) and a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).

“Melissa will play an integral role in advancing the foundation of our organization’s culture,” said President & CEO Ronnie Burt. “Her leadership, experience and passion for Kansas City make her an excellent addition to our team—and a high-impact hire that will continue to shape Visit KC for many years to come.”
