Visit KC, the Kansas City region’s leading hospitality and tourism organization, announced today the appointment of Randall J. Landes as the organization’s Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer. Honored in 2017 as “CFO of the Year” by the Kansas City Business Journal, Landes most recently served as Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, a position he held since 2010. He begins his new role with Visit KC on Sept. 30.

Retiring as the City’s CFO on Sept. 13, Landes offers more than 30 years of experience in municipal finance having performed a variety of roles, including city treasurer, finance and accounting manager for the Parks and Recreation Department and senior budget analyst in the City Manager’s Office.
In his new role at Visit KC, Landes will direct all aspects of financial and accounting operations and oversee all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables and financial reporting, in addition to financial oversight of the Visit KC Foundation and the Spark destination management company. He will develop, implement and monitor the organization’s operating budget in accordance with its strategic plan and in collaboration with leadership.
Landes’ previous experience also includes serving the community through a variety of boards and commissions, including the 1200 Main/Southloop and Downtown Streetcar transportation development districts, the Firefighters’ and Employees’ Pension boards, the Performing Arts Center Community Improvement District, the EDC Loan Corporation and AltCap—a community development financial institution.
Landes maintains a professional designation as a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and has received honors from the Association for Financial Professionals and the Association for Public Treasurers. He is a graduate of both the Government Finance Officers Advanced Governmental Finance Institute and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program. In 2016, Landes was awarded the L.P. Cookingham Award for Outstanding Contributions to Public Administration from the American Society for Public Administration. A Kansas City native, Landes completed both his Bachelor of Science and master’s degree at Rockhurst University.
