Kansas City Restaurant Week introduces new mobile app with more interactive features for 2017 event

New app features include photo filters, restaurant wish lists, and dining tracker

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 22, 2016) – Kansas City Restaurant Week presented by US Foods has built a new mobile app with more interactive elements, giving users a more robust, engaging experience. The app was designed and built by local digital production company, Propaganda3, and is now available for iOS and Android devices.

The app’s new features include:

  • Photo filters so patrons can share their dining experiences using #KCRW2017
  • A favorites function allows users to create a wish list of restaurants
  • A share function lets users send their wish lists to friends and family directly via the app
  • A “Tasted” button helps users track the restaurants where they have dined
  • An interactive map features locations of all participating restaurants
  • An OpenTable reservation function
  • Search filters to refine restaurants by neighborhood, menu type (lunch or dinner), cuisine and diet preferences including gluten free, nut-free, vegan and vegetarian

Kansas City Restaurant Week returns Jan. 13-22, 2017, marking the 10-day event’s highly-anticipated eighth consecutive year. Participating restaurants will offer multi-course lunch and dinner menus under two price tiers - $15 and $33. The two prices are interchangeable, allowing each participating restaurant to customize a lunch and/or dinner menu that best represents its dining experience. Nearly 160 restaurants are currently enrolled to participate in the event, benefitting five local organizations.

Donations raised during the 2017 event will benefit BoysGrow, an urban-farming initiative whose mission is to teach entrepreneurism to urban male youth; the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, an organization offering training and educational programs to visually-impaired children and their families; and Cultivate Kansas City, an organization providing incentives for low-income families to shop at local farmers markets. The Kansas City Regional Destination Development Foundation and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association Education Foundation will also receive a share of the 2017 donations.

Each year, KCRW partners with local charities to raise funds for deserving causes.
