NCAA March Madness 2023 13

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Wednesday, the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC announced Kansas City would host 8 NCAA Championship Events over the 2026-27 and 2027-28 academic years.

“Kansas City’s history of hosting world-class collegiate championships is an important part of what makes us such a compelling destination, and I’m excited for the future of college sports in and around our metro,” said Kathy Nelson, President and CEO of Visit KC and the Kansas City Sports Commission.

“These events generate significant economic impact for our hotels and small businesses, as well as shine a positive spotlight on Kansas City through broadcast programming, news coverage and social media.”

In February 2024, the Sports Commission, in collaboration with Visit KC and other valued bid partners, submitted 23 bids across a variety of NCAA divisions and sports.

“What an incredible time to be in Kansas City. Our selection to host NCAA games recognizes our proven ability year-after-year to provide a top-tier experience for athletes and fans,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.

“We are excited to welcome teams, supporters, and visitors from around the country, showcasing all our community has to offer, including our passionate sports culture and world-class facilities. We look forward to hosting collegiate champions for years to come in the heart of Kansas City.”

The following championships were awarded to Kansas City:
