Top Festivals Return for Labor Day 2024 in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It’s time to soak in those last few days of summer with Kansas City’s Labor Day celebrations.  

Local organizations across the KC area are hosting noteworthy ways to spend the holiday. Here are some of the top events to check out.  

Kansas City Irish Fest – Aug. 30-Sept. 1  
Say “sláinte” as the Kansas City Irish Fest makes its return to Crown Center. Visitors can immerse themselves in the traditions of Ireland with live entertainment, traditional Irish and Scottish dining, a vast range of cultural activities and programs that cater to the entire family.  

SantaCaliGon Days – Aug. 30-Sept. 2 
In Independence, the SantaCaliGon Days festival returns for a weekend of historically inspired entertainment. Live music, demonstrations of life in 1849 and family friendly attractions offer a full weekend of festivities and fun.   

Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour – Aug. 30  
Film buffs can catch some of the best short films from the 2024 Sundance Film Festival right in North Kansas City. Screenland Armour Theatre is hosting the 2024 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour, a 110-minute program of seven shorts--including three award-winning titles.  

Kansas City Renaissance Festival – Aug. 31-Oct. 14 
Step back in time at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, a medieval-themed village home to jousting knights, thrill-seeking acrobats and beautiful maidens. 

Marco Antonio Solís – Aug. 31 
Mexican music icon Marco Antonio Solís takes the stage at Kansas City's T-Mobile Center on Aug. 31. "El Buki's" acclaimed Eternamente Agradecido World Tour will delight fans of all ages.  

Glass Animals – Aug. 31  
Ready to rock? Grammy-nominated band Glass Animals will bring its 2024 international tour to Bonner Springs’ Azura Amphitheater for an amped-up outdoor show on Aug. 31. 

Chalk and Walk – Aug. 31 and Sept. 1  
This two-day event at Kansas City’s beloved City Market will showcase hundreds of professional, student and amateur artists as they create impressive chalk paintings. Even local kids can get in on the fun with free chalk! 

Royals vs Guardians – Sept. 2  
With the race for the playoffs officially on, baseball fans can cheer on the boys in blue as the Kansas City Royals start a three-game series vs division rivals, the Cleveland Guardians on Labor Day.
