KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Jason Fulvi, President and CEO of Visit KC, announced today his resignation, effective Sept. 3, 2021. Over the next 60 days, Fulvi will assist the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors with a seamless transition process to ensure the important work of Visit KC continues.
In a statement to Visit KC Board Chair Cindy Circo, Fulvi said, “My time guiding Visit KC has been well invested as I have successfully cultivated a core team of professionals to lead the organization through the most challenging times in our industry. I am confident that the sustainability and success of the organization will be led by an effective and efficient team of tourism and hospitality experts to guide the destination forward as the travel industry rebounds.”
Fulvi has served as President and CEO since 2018 when he joined the organization from VisitPITTSBURGH as the organization’s Executive Vice President overseeing key operations of several departments within the organization after serving the organization 16 years in a variety of positions including Executive Director of Convention Sales.
Fulvi made the decision to lead Visit KC due to the city’s Downtown renaissance and convention momentum. Fulvi said, “The commitment the city’s leadership has shown to make Kansas City a world-class destination for tourism, meetings and conventions is impressive. This is one of the best, well thought-out convention packages in the industry, and the city and local hospitality leadership should be proud of what they have accomplished—the city’s continued momentum, including new developments such as the Loews KC Convention Center Hotel, the expansion of the KC Streetcar and the new single terminal at Kansas City International Airport will drive incremental visitation for years to come.”
The Board of Directors of Visit KC would like to thank Mr. Fulvi for his leadership and commitment to enhance the hospitality industry in the Greater Kansas City region.
Board Chair Cindy Circo said, “Jason has been a tremendous asset in leading Kansas City and Visit KC on a positive trajectory for future success. Under Jason’s leadership, Visit KC drove increased business and leisure tourism, thus driving incremental economic impact to our destination which drives community sustainability. Jason’s leadership guided Visit KC through the devastation of the pandemic and has well positioned Kansas City to meet or exceed the key performance indicators in place to safely and strategically welcome the world back, including: leisure and convention room-night production, brand awareness and consumer engagement. I would like to thank Jason for his service and wish him the best in his future endeavors. On behalf of the Board, we also want to thank the Visit KC staff for their hard work and dedication in realizing many achievements under Jason’s leadership over these past three years. Our loss is Arrivalist’s gain.”
Visit KC has appointed Randall Landes, the organization’s Chief Financial Officer, as interim President and CEO to allow for a smooth transition. Board Chair Cindy Circo has engaged Board Vice Chair Jeanette Prenger to chair and assemble a search committee to identify a permanent replacement.
